At Goma Core Mines, sustainability is at the heart of our operations in North Kivu, DRC. We believe that mining should create lasting value not only for investors but also for the communities and environment where we operate. Our pillar of Sustainable Resource Development reflects our commitment to responsible mineral extraction, environmental stewardship, and community empowerment, ensuring long‑term prosperity for all stakeholders. Sustainable mining’ involves the reduction of the adverse environmental, economic, and social effects of mining activities and limiting extraction in a way that does not undermine the needs of future generations. Sustainable mining focuses on the convergence between the three elements of economic growth, social equality, and environmental sustainability. A sustainable mining sector should therefore be healthy, safe, ethnically inclusive, socially responsible, eco-friendly, and accepted by the surrounding communities.

Water stewardship – We integrate water management throughout our mine planning, striving to safeguard shared water sources, optimize use and, where possible, enhance availability for local communities.

Biodiversity beyond compliance – Beyond impact management, we actively support conservation efforts  restoring ecosystems, protecting species and enhancing biodiversity resilience. An example we created a man made water aquarium for fish and new species were introduced in the pond.

Clean energy leadership – For more than a eight years now, we have been introducing and then scaling renewable energy solutions into the energy mixes of our operations. This ensures reliable power for operations and often nearby communities as well.

Environmental Stewardship

Eco‑Friendly Operations: Renewable energy integration and efficient water management systems. Biodiversity Protection: Safeguarding forests, rivers, and wildlife habitats across North Kivu. Waste Reduction: Recycling and responsible disposal practices that lower our environmental footprint. Climate Responsibility: Commitment to reducing emissions and supporting green energy projects.

we have invested in solar‑powered water pumps to provide communities with reliable access to clean water. These systems harness renewable energy to deliver safe drinking water, reduce dependence on diesel generators, and lower environmental impact. By integrating solar technology into our community projects, we not only improve public health and living standards but also create long‑term infrastructure that supports schools, clinics, and households. This initiative reflects our commitment to environmental sustainability, community empowerment, and shared prosperity, ensuring that both our operations and our partners contribute to a healthier, more resilient future for North Kivu.
